Bucharest Walking Tour

HISTORY, CITY TOURS

Bucharest walking tours give you the best chance to find out about the best and amazing places in Bucharest.
Bucharest, the capital of Romania is the largest city in the country, with a population of over 2.3 million. The city is well known for its wide boulevards, amazing buildings, the People’s Palace, and the Arc de Triomphe.

Legend says that Bucharest was founded by a shepherd named Bucur. His name can be roughly translated into”joy” (from the Romanian word bucur-ie).
In the 1900s, the city earned its well deserved nickname: Little Paris. But that is something you have to see to believe. Today, the city is a mix between old and new, between traditional and modern, blending these elements together in such a way that you might even think that this was the plan all along.

The following information is divided into two parts; the morning and the afternoon city tours. Some attractions will differ because of the time slot.

BUCHAREST MORNING CITY TOUR

This mini-tour of the city is tailored specifically for you.

If you look above this text, you will see a menu. This section of the listing is dedicated to the morning tour.

When there's that much traffic in the city, why bother using a car? Why not take advantage of the opportunities you have by simply walking around the city center? You get to discover much more.

    Included:

  • Entrance to People's Palace is included
  • English speaking guide

  • Not Included:

  • Transportation
  • Insurances

(Please note that the order of the activities may change).

  • We will first visit the People’s Palace/Parliament, the second largest building in the world, after the Pentagon. If we arrive there before 4PM, we can also see how the building looks like from the inside.

  • Then it's time for a walk around the oldest park in Bucharest, the Cismigiu Park, a beautiful garden surrounded by a lake.

  • From there, a few minutes up the road we find the Revolution Square (known as Palace Square) until 1989 when the Ceausescu communism regime has fallen. Right there we can also find the Romanian Atheneum, the Royal Palace and the Memorial of Rebirth (dedicated to the fallen heroes that took part in the revolution of 1989).

  • And now we find ourselves in University Square, in the exact middle of the city (km 0) where we find the National Theater, dedicated to one of our most famous play writers, Ion Luca Caragiale.

  • And what would a Bucharest tour be without a visit to Old Town, or as others may call it, the Historical Center? With its beautiful streets and old architecture, this is the perfect place to sit down, grab a drink and end the tour on a high note.
